Germany’s capital city, Berlin, is renowned for its history, culture and fabulous cuisine, as much as its legendary nightlife. You can shop till you drop in the luxury brand stores, stop for coffee and cake in the cafés, and then hit the tourist sights.

Checkpoint Charlie, the remnants of the Berlin Wall, the TV Tower, Museum Island, Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag – all waiting to be discovered by foot, bike, taxi or by double-decker tourist buses. Blessed with lakes and open spaces, Berlin also offers visitors more than 2,500 gardens and other great places to visit to escape the buzz of the city.

Looking for somewhere fun and central to stay?  Here’s our list of our favourite and most luxurious coolest hotels in Berlin.

The Coolest Hotels in Berlin Germany

Soho House Berlin

The renowned Soho House group of club hotels has a cool Berlin outpost that offers 5-star accommodation to non-members and is one of the very best Berlin hotels. Located in the trendy Mitte district, Soho House Berlin’s Grade II-listed building boasts Bauhaus-inspired interiors and a selection of rooms and apartments.

Our favourite is the three-bedroom loft where aspiring DJs can spin the decks, chill at the bar, or tinkle the ivories on the grand piano in the open-plan living space. Entrance to the House Kitchen restaurant, gym and the rooftop pool is included in your stay. Swing by the Club Bar for DJ nights and cocktails, and enjoy a movie in the in-house screening room.

Urban vibe meets urban jungle: this gloriously fun hotel is one of the coolest hotels in Berlin to conduct a little monkey business. This listed building on Budapest Strasse may be listed on the outside, but inside the design team from Studio Aisslingerhas created a funky reception area replete with a hammock lounge, a delicious in-house bakery and a spa with views over the Zoologischen Garten.

We love restaurant Neni on the roof with its international influences and pots on the table serving, as well as its 10th-floor views over Berlin and the Tier Garten, while the Monkey Bar is the place for Berlin’s creatives to come and play. Go for the Large Jungle Rooms with their own bikes, mini bar and hammocks, with views over Berlin Zoo and the Tiergarten.

Musos will love the two professional recording studios, and there’s even guitar room service. Live music and DJ sets are de rigueur at nHow Berlin, and we recommend the cuisine and cocktails at the hotel’s own envy bar and fabrics restaurant.

The two-storey Penthouse Suite is gorgeous. Sashay out onto your private roof terrace with panoramic views over the German capital and enjoy the separate living and sleeping areas. If a day’s hectic sightseeing isn’t enough exercise, head to the in-house gym and sauna.
