The capital of Germany since 1991 and home to its Federal Government, Berlin has played a major role in European history. Renowned for its wild nightlife, Berlin also offers more highbrow pursuits, including world-class museums on Museum Island in the Spree River, an eclectic arts and music scene, as well as superb local and international restaurants and world-famous shopping along the Kudamm.

Fun things to do in Berlin include visiting parts of the Berlin Wall still standing, the Brandenburg Gate, Tiergarten and, of course, Checkpoint Charlie. There are also many parks and gardens to enjoy.

And for those who enjoy a little (or a lot!) of pampering, why not book a spa treatment or massage at one of the leading luxury hotels in Berlin? To help you find the best places to be spoiled rotten, here are a few of our favourite top luxury spa hotels in Berlin.

Enjoying a central Gendarmenmarkt location between the river and the Tiergarten, this boutique Berlin spa hotel may not have the plushest décor, but its interiors are modern and light-filled, with plenty of areas in the lobby for working and meeting friends or clients.

The health club at the Hilton Berlin boasts an enticing 46-foot swimming pool alongside the salon, which offers an extensive range of body treatments using Elemis products. Book a mud bath or couples massage, or opt for a deluxe mani-pedi and facial after relaxing in the steam room. Work out in the 24-hour fitness room and love the Precor equipment before dinner at the in-house Mark Brandenburg restaurant.

Rooms here are comfortable and stylish, and many have panoramic views over the Deutscher Dom Cathedral. All the main sights are within a 25-minute walk.

Titanic Chaussee Berlin

The oddly monikered Titanic group of hotels originated in Turkey and the group have brought their unsinkable brand to Germany. Located near the main station, the Titanic Chaussee has its home in the creative Hackescher Markt Mitte district. This popular area has a distinctly funky vibe, thanks to the local galleries, markets, shops, bars, restaurants, and eclectic nightlife scene.

The hotel has two floors dedicated to wellness, with a massive gym area along with an indoor pool, sauna, and steam room. Choose the top-floor Titanic Suite with its sound-proofed windows overlooking Berlin, and a separate seating area and dedicated workspace. Although there are plenty of excellent restaurants in the neighborhood, we recommend sampling the Mediterranean cuisine and tasty Sicilian flavours at the on-site Pascarella.

Housed in a former warehouse, the interiors are grand, spacious, and luxurious-think Doric columns, eye-popping colour accents, and unique artworks. Accommodation at the Titanic Gendarmenmarkt is minimalist yet warm with white, red, and brown the main colour accents.

Fix a Nespresso and hunker down in the impressive Gendarmenmarket Duplex Suite situated over two floors. This apartment-like suite with two marble bathrooms faces Franzosische Street and boasts a living room, bedroom, and lounge area protected from the buzzy exterior by soundproofed openable windows.
